Monday Updates

READING:
- Books I've started: Hammered by Kevin Hearne, Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews and Across The Universe by Beth Revis.
- Have done almost nothing about my review books which is fast becoming a mountain of guilt that is weighing me down constantly. Time to do something about it.

WRITING:
- Still trying to write those last chapters of Seeder's Poison but struggling. I have somehow turned into that person who talks and talks about doing something but never actually does it.
- Dreamed up a good back story to my angel book. Dreams are such useful things. Don't worry, it's got nothing to do with sparkly emo vampires.
- Can I take a second to beg you guys who have captcha  comments enabled to get rid of it? They've changed the format and it's now so hard to make out what those letters are!!!!

TV:
- Besides Gossip Girl I haven't watched any TV all week. How good am I? But don't be fooled into thinking I've been writing. Oh no. I have just discovered online shopping. Some people are just gluttons for punishment.

LIFE:
- I think I've taken procrastination to a new level. I keep getting emails and reading them on my iPhone and then completely forgetting to get back to people later on. Then I set myself a mental reminder to do it and it never happens!
- Not so sick anymore, so have been able to go out and about a bit without feeling like a dementor is sucking my soul out.

In other news, Tammi at Young Adult Book Reviews and I are thinking of hosting a whole month of The Hunger Games appreciation events in March. Would anyone be interested in doing a read-a-thon, book and movie reviews and such? Drop me a line if you are. It's going to be an exciting month of awesomeness. I am so excited about this movie even though I'm still cursing the casting choices

  2. Since I'm pretty shit at following through with stuff I can't say I'd participate much, but am defo gonna read the hunger games (again again) before watching the film so would most likely read anything and everything you'd have to say about it in the HG month :) dreams are the best sort of inspiration, I just wish mine would try and make more sense. I mostly just get really disturbed looks when I retell my nightly adventures >_>

    1. Ha! I get so many funny looks when I talk about my dreams. Mostly it's because they're always about something scary chasing me. I can't wait for next month even though it's going to be huge for me. I'm counting on you guys to read the crazy ideas I have about THG!!

  4. A Hunger Games month?? Oh my gosh, COUNT ME IN! The Hunger Games movie is probably my biggest priority-watch for March and I'm so excited to see it, so I think it would be a great way to get every else as excited as I am! x) Surprisingly, I'm not as upset as I was when I first saw the cast names because the trailer looks SO GOOD! :)

Haha and don't worry, Lan! I'll bet you're getting more writing done than I have! x) Ever since I started blogging so much, I don't think I've written a single page of my book! But I know what you mean about those word verification things -- some of them are really hard to decipher LOL!

I hope you have an amazing Monday, Lan! :)

    1. I just can't see Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss no matter how they dress her up. I like her as an actress but her stature is all wrong!

Blogging drains your writing time in a huge way doesn't it? I keep meaning to write and then I thnk "Hmm I wonder what so and so is blogging about today?" And then that's it, 5 hours gone.

  5. Oh, dreams are quite useful. I have gotten so many answers to how I need to continue a book from them, and ideas for new books. Captcha is beyond annoying... I reluctantly do it because I never remember who has it or not. Online shopping? Unfortunately, this has been me too. Although I was a good girl this week and got a lot edited/rewritten in my draft.

The Hunger Games... I was considering doing one or two random posts related to it. One idea (and probably the only one I'd do) is kinda like I did with Twilight for Alison Can Read--show a bunch of Hunger Games inspired jewelry/handmade items from Etsy. I added a bunch of them to my favorites so I remember write the post up when the movie gets closer. I could definitely write it up and have it be part of your event! Shoot me an email if you'd like me to do it. (impulsivities[at]gmail)

    1. Sometimes I go to bed and think real hard about something to try and induce a plot dream :) Sometimes it works!

I hate those capture captcha comments. They've made it all black and white and weird and so hard to see. It drives me crazy.

Love the idea of your THG post. I'll email you for sure about including it in the March Tribute!

  6. Ah, I see you've met my old friend procrastination. ;) Good luck getting rid of him.

I seriously groan every time I see those dang Captcha codes! I must be a robot because I can't freaking read them!

    1. I've been aquainted with with procrastination for a while now. It's awful isn't it? Life seem to just be flying by while I sit in front of the computer stalking people.

I think you can write pretty much anything into the captcha box and it will still work because there have been times when I seriously cannot deciper it and I just write what I think and it always seems okay.

  7. Online shopping is a serious time sucker. Love it!
I agree about the Captchas. BOO! They need to go.

  9. I hope you like Across the Universe. I'd get rid of my blog's captchas if I knew how. Seriously, I have no idea how to do it, or I would have by now. People say: go here, do this, click on that, but those things do not exist. I can't use things that don't exist. It's so frustrating...

  12. I've been meaning to read Across the Universe, but it hasn't happened yet. And yay for procrastinators! Just last week I returned an email from December. I am pathetic with that sort of stuff right now, so don't feel like you're the only one. :)

I think it'd be fun to do some Hunger Games themed stuff in March.

  13. What a wonderful reading list for the week! I'm a bit jealous. :)

I think the Hunger Games month is a fun idea - you know I'm on board for that! Which reminds me...I need to book a babysitter NOW so The Man and I can go to see it opening weekend! :)

I'm doing the same procrastination thing with my writing - maybe we should set up some sort of chapter-swap deal or something to motivate us?

    1. I'm not sure who I'm going to go see it with :( The husband has no interest, so I guess I'll have to rope in some work friends. I love the idea of the chapter swap deal!

  14. YES YES YES!!! I would be verry interested. I am a I actually just bought 2 of the hunger games movie books, the tribute guide and movie companion. Let me know!!!

Oh and those captcha things do suck. I took mine off a while ago and I always get annoyed when I notice people have them.

  15. Hey Lan,
My TBR pile is stacking up quick, too. I've been reading a lot, though, so hopefully I'll make a dent :) Trying to get back into writing Novel 4 after doing revisions to Novel 3 isn't going as smoothly as I'd hoped. I just got to get back into it; plus, I'm having trouble getting a really clear idea of who my bad guys are/where they come from/the mythology behind everything. Shouldn't be too hard, right??? Anyway, just stopping by to say hey. I think the Hunger Games idea is AWESOME.
Hope you're having a great week,
    Ninja Girl

    1. Hey Ninja Girl. You're busy for real. I'm busy because I'm lazy :). I have the same problem as you with my evil guys all the time. Sometimes it's more about why they're doing than where they come from for me. I like conviction but can never find any of my own!

  16. Love, love the Kate Daniels books, but you knew that! ^_^ I gots an angel(ish) story that I started last year. It was supposed to be a romance, and somehow turned into an urban fantasy epic on a very wide scale. I feel like that always happens. Everything I start just gets bigger and bigger!

    Beth ^_^
