GoodReads Newbie
Hey All,
So I'm finally on goodreads thanks to the gentle persuasion of Beth from Sweet Books'n Stuff. Stalker that I am, I've gone on a bit of an adding spree and requested a bunch of you guys as friends. So please don't be freaked out if you get a random request.
I have no idea what's going on so I added everyone using their email addresses if they've emailed me personally before. If anyone else feels like adding me my email is lc.novel@gmail.com and my username is just Lan I think...
Over and out.

Lol...we're gonna have you on all the social sites soon. :P
ReplyDeleteAsh! I totally added you. I haven't got the slightest idea what's going on but I've just been playing around with it.
ReplyDeletelol..hey the best part is messing around on it. I haven't checked it yet, but I'm about to. It's another one of my bad habits because it helps me find books I would have never known about otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI've sent you a friend request! So glad you're on Goodreads now. I'm on there everyday, and just leave the window open on my computer all the time. I use it several times a day. Don't know what I'd so without it! Helps me organize my massive reading lists. Completely obsessed...
ReplyDeleteI signed up to Goodreads a while back but i havent been back ever since...maybe you can learn all about how it works and then convert me to its wonderfulness please?! Everyone tells me i should be on there but I dont have space in my head or my life to manage another social media space.
ReplyDeleteI have a goodreads account but I never use it *shame*. I have less and less internet time these days, so I guess I've just forgotten it's there. Hope you do better with it than I did!
ReplyDeleteLove Goodreads! Its so addicting!
ReplyDeleteim SOOO adding you. Goodreads is my favourite!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! This does not bode well for your computer time. ;)
ReplyDeleteI recently joined GoodReads, but like Lani and Penguin, I haven't really used my account. I started adding books, but doing that continuously got boring after a while, and I wasn't sure what else you were supposed to do there. I like looking at the 'Best X' lists, though - they're useful for choosing books for other people. But so far, I haven't got addicted. I agree, you'll have to tell us why it's so great!
ReplyDeleteI Love Goodreads Lan. It is a great place to find reviews on books that you aren't sure of and also they have some great contests!
ReplyDeleteCathy & Jenny: I've already started to play around with stuff. This does not bode well for my computer time at all. Nor is it any good for my stalker tendencies!
ReplyDeleteLani, Penguin & TG: I'll try and check it out for you. It's a bit confusing for me at the moment. I'm not very good with new technology!
Natalie, Alana & Tammi: I already read the reviews on goodreads but the thought of writing two reviews every time I read a book is a bit daunting.
Oh cool, I'll look for you on there Lan! Usually I just rate and put books into my TBR pile (and take those fun quizzes). I should probably post my reviews...maybe I will someday :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great one,
Ninja Girl
Ninja Girl: Cool! See you on there! I can barely keep up with my reviews on here so I don't know how I'm going to write then on goodreads as well!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're there! :)
ReplyDeleteI copy-and-paste my reviews - or, often, just a part of them - over to GR. Definitely don't have time to write separate ones! :)
It's a fun way to keep track of things. Oh - you have an iPhone, right? Be sure to get the Goodreads app - you can scan the barcode of books to add them to your library, or just to check reviews when you're out shopping. Love that feature! :)
I love Goodreads! I'd never be able to remember what I want to read if it weren't for it. It's one of the greatest websites ever created.
ReplyDeleteJust sent you a request! :)
ReplyDeleteBJ: Copying and pasting reviews sounds like a good idea. Why does scanning books with my iPhone seem a like technology is going too far?!?
ReplyDeletePeggy: I currently keep my list of books to read on random post-it notes so I'm sure goodreads will be a step up!
Jinny: My internet connection has decided to semi-die so I can't get onto the site right now. Worst luck ever.
@Lan - the technology is a little crazy, for sure. But it's sure a helpful feature when you're standing in the bookstore and trying to decide whether that book is worth $15 or not. I don't base my choices on ratings, but if a quick look at reviews shows some story elements I dislike, it's nice to find out before I buy...
ReplyDeleteGR is fun! Thanks for adding me!
ReplyDeleteOkay so I haven't been on goodreads in a long time. Like I have no idea whats going on on there. Maybe I should go back and do something...try to figure out whats going on
ReplyDeleteBJ: Yeah I can see how that would be helpful. Fine. I will try to get over my technophobia!
ReplyDeleteSelina: No problems. I love checking out what you guys rate things.
Sherre: There is so much stuff going on at goodreads that I feel slightly lost. But I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Just like this blog!
