Monday Updates
READING:
Am still in my weird reading/reviewing funk. At this point it's becoming more of a lifestyle than a phase. Gotta do something to break out of it. It may have something to do with my current gardening/TV obsession. Or that I think I may be getting way too old and cynical to enjoy the usual teen angst in YA. I've gone through my TBR pile and given myself a deadline to read each book but I'm predicting a failure because non-essential deadlines and me don't mix.
WRITING:
Drumroll....Seeder's Poison is finished!! Yay!! *runs around clapping* Yes I may have gotten carpal tunnel and if I have to re-read it one for time I will scream but at least it's finally done!!!
TV:
Have gotten into Bones in a major way. Everyone is so cool. Am all for a show where the geeks take center stage.
LIFE:
You guys can tell I've been a bit slack with the blog. Only 2 posts in April so far. I can't even say it's because I've been reading a lot or writing all that much. I think I've just been hit with a case of big time ennui. Probably because summer is def at an end and I I haven't met any vampires. Ha! At least I haven't lost my sense of humour.
Have a great Monday everybody.

Awww, when a reading funk becomes a lifestyle, you know you're in trouble! Although you made me choke on my cookie when you said that you're getting "way too old and cynical..." Definitely not LOL! I think we just need to find you the right epic books! x)
ReplyDeleteAnd YAAAAAAAAAY! *runs around clapping with you* That's so amazing how you finished Seeder's Poison, Lan!! The re-reading-and-editing-and-questioning-why-you-have-to-keep-re-reading-it part is probably not the funnest, but just think: Soon we'll all be able to read your book too! That makes it all worth it, right? :)
I hope you have an amazing Monday, Lan! <3
Oh, in my last reading slump, I didn't even read any YA book for about a few months, so I hope it's nothing as serious as my condition before, Lan! I also thought that I just got tired of all drama in YA books, but it turns out that I was just in a phase! I hope you'll discover a great read soon and get rid of the feeling! For now, I hope you're content with your gardening hobby! This is random but I always wish that I have a green thumb like you! <3
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATION for finishing Seeder's Poison! I hope I can do a congratulation party for you right now LOL! I hope the book has something to do with poison, because then it's just SO FREAKIN AMAZING! LOL I hope you don't need to reread your work soon! xD
Have a great Monday for you too, Lan! :)
YAY times ten for Seeder's Poison! I can't wait to read it. :) And Bones, current season or earlier seasons? I've only seen like two episodes of the current season. Some fan I am! I've gotten behind on a few of my favorites though. I just forget to catch up online with ones I miss. Too distracted some days! Oh, and with the blog, there's always moments where you can barely keep it up with the reading and blog posts. You'll make it through. Find something you REALLY want to read, or REALLY want to blog about, even non-book related. That might break you out of the slump. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing you MS!!!!! That's so cool. I'll forgive your reading/reviewing funk just for that, and because I've been in a bad one myself.
ReplyDeleteI've missed your reviews and rambling, I hope you get back to us soon. :)
Congrats on finishing your manuscript! That is a major accomplishment! Look forward to seeing the published version sometimes in the future. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for finishing your book! That is beyond awesome. :) Every once in awhile I have to take a break from YA madness and read something adult (usually a classic, like right now it's Jane Austen). I find after that I'm usually itching for some YA angst. ;) Plus, I read quite a bit of Middle Grade too which (usually) isn't as angst filled as YA.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes for Bones! LOVE that show. :)
OH, yeah, I know all about that whole feeling "If I have to read my MS one more time, I swear...!" That's what sucks about writing--that you have to reread and reread and reread a million times the SAME thing that you wrote, and how can you even like it anymore after all of that??!
ReplyDeleteBut, congrats again on finishing it cause it's such a hard and frustrating thing to do. Sometimes I just want to ignore my blog, too, nowadays, but then again, I like blabbing about stuff on there. My regular readers are hating my blog these days, lol.
Congrats on finishing your book! That's so freaking awesome! *throws confetti*
ReplyDeleteAs for your reading slump, maybe try a different genre just for a change of pace? Or reread an old favorite to remind yourself why you love reading. Good luck, and happy Monday!
Yayyyy!!! You finished your book!!!! Woo Hoo!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the reading and blogging issue, you should do what you told me to do. Reading is supposed to be fun for all of us bloggers, not a requirement. If you dont feel it, dont do it. Enjoy reading when you feel like it and blog when you have something to say.
HA! You said summer's over and I literally got angry and confused. I'm like "How'd I miss summer? I thought spring just ended. Did I miss something?" (thats just how out of it i've been lately) But then I realized its over for you, and starting for us, and that I'm not a crazy recluse after all!
I've done the reading funk thing for months or even a whole year, and the only way out is through. I think you have to stop trying to become interested, go do whatever else interests you, and one day the desire to read will come back like magic. All of the sudden, you'll pick something up and be fascinated and not want to put it down.
ReplyDeleteYay! Its done!! You should throw yourself a party! Buy a pie, cake, whatever for finishing it! That is a huge accomplishment!

Woohoo for finishing the novel!!! *throws confetti* That is awesome. I feel you about the funk :/ Sometimes I just run into so many books that are just OK--not really bad, but not so great I want to review. That's usually around the time when I move from YA to adult, just for a little breather. Too much angst, like you said, can get old. But I usually find my way back to YA. *shrugs* I actually had this a little while back. Then I kinda forced myself to start reading again, but I only picked up books that I KNEW were going to keep my interested/drive me to the finish. Also, usually means returning to the writers I know and love. Luckily a new Black Dagger Brotherhood book came out to light my fire again ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Ninja Girl
I'm starting to have no desire to read the books on my TBR pile. I've been putting deadlines for my reviews also and I always miss the mark -.-;
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! You finally finished Seeder's Poison! I hope you'll get it out into the shelves soon!!!
Yay! I'm so happy for you that you finished your book! And Bones is definitely worth getting addicted to. The current season isn't my favorite, but all the past ones have been SO good.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the completion of your work. That's great news!
ReplyDeleteWow, congrats on finishing your book!! I totally know what you mean, when I finished my last WIP, I had been reading and writing and editing so much that I had total burn out. I say, let yourself watch as much TV and do as much gardening as you can handle for a couple weeks and recharge! You deserve it!
