Hunger Games/Dystopian Celebration Giveaway!!

There's no doubt that dystopian novels were around long before The Hunger Games ever existed, but it's safe to say the current resurgence it the genre's popularity is because of this book. Even though it looks like I'm not going to be able to see the movie until next weekend, I am still super excited about it. Especially since movie reviews are popping up all over the blogosphere!

To celebrate the movies release and spotlight other dystopican books, I'm going to be giving away to one lucky winner, a book from the below list:

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (For you crazy people who haven't read it!)
Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Partials by Dan Wells
Obernewtyn by Isobelle Carmody
Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
Legend  by Marie Lu
Tomorrow When The War Began by John Marsden
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Angelfall by Susan Ee (Purchased from Createspace)
Enclave by Ann Aguirre
Wither  by Laura DeStefano
Uglies  by Scott Westerfeld

Aside from Angelfall, all other books will be ordered from The Book Depository. I am happy for people to request sequels to any of the books mentioned if they have already read the first books.

Good Luck and may the odds be ever in your favour! (Score one for me for using that in this giveaway!)

  2. Oh yay! I love Hunger Games celebration (and giveaway)! Thank you for the awesome giveaway, Lan! <3

I guess you must have realized that my favorite character in Hunger Games aside of the main characters is Finnick Odair! Well, my obsession on him is pretty obvious. ;) Finnick is super CUTE and HOT and NICE and STRONG and... okay, you sure don't want me to start rambling here. xD

PS: Have you watched the movie? I'm SO EXCITED! x)

  3. Nice, I like that you added The Chronicles of Obernewtyn.

  4. Aside from the main characters, Cinna is a pretty cool character, and a real genius with his costuming.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Probably... Cinna... I don't know why. I just love him :3

  6. Oh my gosh, I went to see the movie last night and it was AMAZING, Lan!! Since it was opening night, it was crazy busy, but all the waiting and rushing and trying not to get trampled was completely worth it! I can't wait until you have the chance to see it next weekend too -- it's definitely one of the best books-to-movies out there! ;)

And I'd have to say that one of my favourite side characters would be Cinna -- I love him so much! He's so good to Katniss even before she really meets him, and then he continues to be pure awesome to the very end! If I ever became the want-a-stylist kind of girl, I'd definitely pick him! :)

YAY for Hunger Games fans uniting!! <3 Thanks so much, Lan!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Rue is my favorite. She's so sweet and innocent and gosh, I love her!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I loved Cinna because he was one of the most genuine and sweet people who could always be trusted.

    ReplyDelete
  19. A lot of love for her,but my favourite is of course Rue. She is so sweet and humble, yet clever and cunning too. My heart just melts everytime.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I haven't read all the books...so in the first one I'd say definitely Cinna or Haymitch - it's a tie.

And I love the Delirium books...I mean, WOW.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well I haven't read any dystopian books yet, but I really need too. I know I'm so late....

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow, love this giveaway! Awesome books, and I love that Angelfall is up there. Totally deserves it.

Other than the MC's (Peeta is probably my fave), my otherwise favorite character is Finnick. LOVE that kooky guy! He's charmingly hilarious, yet tragic. I cannot wait to see what hunky, lucky guy is going to be cast as him in Catching Fire.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cinna because he was so creative & inspirational. It was his creations that captured the audience & made people take notice of Katniss. I also loved Finnick (gorgeous & his love for Annie was so sweet).

    ReplyDelete
  24. Aside from the main characters it would have to be Cinna, I like the way he treated Katniss.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Rue is one of my favourite THG character! I cried when she died :/ Her character is lovable and innocent, even though her character doesn't talk much but i love how she was described in the book <3

    ReplyDelete

  30. This is an awesome giveaway! My favorite character is Peeta. He's the sort of person I strive to be. :)

Favorite dystopian book -- well, I love lots of them, but I think Octavia Butler took it to a new level in the Parable of the Sower. I am haunted by this book, and it's been years since I've read it.

Thanks for the list -- I'm going to add some of these to my TBR list.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My favorite character, aside from Katniss and Peeta, is Primrose.
Primrose has this compassionate attitude that was really evident with the way Katniss talks about her and, ultimately, with the way Primrose herself acts. Her love of animals and the fact that she can't hunt because she would want to help the poor animal instead is very much endearing for me. Also, the fact that she wasn't afraid to help out injured people despite the face of danger is admirable. I especially love how strong-willed and matured she was in Mockingjay.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cinna....he's detrimental to the uprising. Without his character...I don't think Katniss grows into the same person. He really helps her break out of that naiveté.

    ReplyDelete
  33. My favorite would be Cinna! He's such an enigmatic person. :D Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cinna was my favorite. I loved his cofidence in himself and in Katness .

    ReplyDelete
  35. Katniss, she is just so brave, smart and fierce!

    ReplyDelete
  36. My fave dystopian book is Delirium!!!! and Eve!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't decide who I like more...Rue, Finnick or Cinna!

Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  38. My favorite is either Cinna or Haymitch... I can't decide which one I like more! I also adore Rue, so that's pretty tough as well... :/

    ReplyDelete
  39. I really love Cinna, but I also adore Prim's evil mangy cat LOL. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Great book choices! I actually love Haymitch. He's like the Snape of Hunger Games. And Finnick. Poor, poor Finnick.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi
I haven't read the books yet, but after watching the movie I'd love to read the three of them. Besides the characters you mentioned I'd say that my favorite is the little girl from district 11, Rue.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete

hmm. Rue and Finnick!!! Rue because I think she's sweet. then there's Finnick, who's hot (next to Peeta of course) :)) Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't have one because I haven't read the books yet.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would say my favorite character beside the main three is Haymitch. He provides some comedy relief; also he is so much like Katniss. And he is one of the first to openly oppose The Capitol.

    ReplyDelete
  50. My favorite is Rue. She is small but she is a fighter just like Katniss.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love Cinna & Rue. My heart breaks for them. But I also really like Clove, because she's so hardcore and amazing with the throwing knives!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I really liked Cato, and even more so in the movie. His character development was amazing, especially at the end, when he figured out what was going on, what the Capitol was really doing. He found out his whole life was a sham. Plus the actor wasn't bad to look at at all...!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love Haymitch, he makes me laugh, even if he is a drunk, and Woodt Harrelson playing him was icing on the cake to me! Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  56. Deuce from Enclave was awesome. Also Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'll admit it; my favorite HG character is President Snow. I just loved the way Suzanne Collins developed his character and made him so hate-able, if that makes any sense!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hmm besides the main three people, I'd go with Finnick. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Rue and Prim are also awesome :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Haymich because he goes from being the town drunk to the town drunk who brought home both of his tributes. He has grown to have a soft spot for Katniss and Peeta

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh, Rue, definitely. I like the way her talents were so hidden and secretive and I cried when, you know.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I have not read the books yet and I have not read much dystopian, but I liked Legend.

    Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Random comment on a completely unrelated blog post: I started writing!!!! Wooo hooo!!! I have 2 chapters already and am excited(although they require quite a bit of editing!!)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Honestly, Haymitch is one of my favourite characters as well as the main two. I actually don't care for Gale that much...

    Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Awwww Rue was definitely my favorite! She was so adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Cinna and Rue are my favorites! They are both awesome! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  67. I loved Rue!! I started crying when I read the book. I wish it could've been different. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Liani Taylor and Divergent by Veronica Roth:)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Katniss is definitely my favourite, but other then her I love Rue, Prim, Cinna, Annie an Finnick. Maybe it's Finnick, not because he's handsom and makes all the girls faint and titter, but because he cares for Annie so much, loves her so passionately.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Cinna!! He's awesome and I love all the stuff he does for Katniss. Finnick was my favorite from book 2. :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. I suppose from Hunger Games my favorite character aside from the main ones would have to be Finnick =)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Cinna. And then Finnick, although I hated him at first. He can rock the bad boy vibe though.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Cinna! He has a quiet strength and is one of the only grounded people in the capital! Awesome giveaway, thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I didn't really like Haymitch in the books that much but in the movie he was awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  77. My favorite character in The Hunger Games is Finnick. He such an awesome character and he cares for Annie so much. He is kind to her, but he's also so charming around everyone it's impossible to hate him.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I like Cinna because he was just awesome to Katniss and amzing(:

    ReplyDelete
  79. I really like Finnick... He is the best character in the book....
I'm just really depressed about his ending though

    ReplyDelete
  80. I loved Prim. One of my favorite scenes from the book was when Kat and Prim were getting ready for the Reaping, and Kat tucks Prim's shirt tail in telling her, "Tuck your tail in, little duck."

  81. +JMJ+

I think Haymitch Abernathy is my favourite. For one thing, I have a soft spot for difficult, grumpy characters. =P For another, I think he is the way he is for a valid reason. Can you imagine being responsible for training two young people, knowing that only one of them (at most) may make it back alive, and seeing both of them die brutal, bloody deaths, year after year, for decades??? Yeah, I get Haymitch.

(Full disclosure: I've only read the first Hunger Games book, so the above paragraph is based on that. If Haymitch does something unforgivable in the next two books, I'm obviously not aware of it yet--and don't want to be until I'm actually reading them! =P)

    Thanks for the giveaway. =)

  82. Haymitch is my favorite non-main character character. He seems at first to just be the comic relief town drunk but becomes a such a different character by the end. He has lived a very difficult life and thus drinks a lot, but when we learn about his past, we can actually forgive him. He really does care about Katniss and Peeta. I have a soft spot for Haymitch and thought Woody Harrelson did a great job portraying him in the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I would have to go with Haymitch. He is just hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Finnick and Haymitch. I love them, they're so hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Rue. Shes so sweet/cute and smart, its hard not to love her. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Haymitch is my fav in the books by far. I love that Woody Harrelson played him, but I still really wish they had done something else with his hair! In the movie Katniss is my favorite. I had my doubts about who played her in the movie, but that girl can seriously act!!

    Beth ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  87. My favorite (other) character is Rue! I'm rereading the first book now and I got very sad about what happened...

    thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I loved Finnick Odair, he was just AWESOME!
    Great giveaway btw

    ReplyDelete
  89. Oh, geez, my daughter and I read the books two years ago and my daughter is on a class trip today so I can't find out the name of the character. Besides the main characters, I loved the guy who did you Katniss' hair. He was sweet and took care of her!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I haven't read THG (yet) and I've just discovered this genre so I don't have a fav yet. Thanks for this chance to win a book!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Finnick. His devotion to Annie was clear to see. I also liked Haymitch, in that he was such a tortured character and yet able to be strong for Katniss and Peeta when they needed him in the arena. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I always found Foxface an interesting character even though we saw very little of her in the games. I liked how cunning she was and she did quite well because of it.
